(TnfNorth Video Coverage of All Races to be available later in the day)
To say that Yves Sikubwabo's late entry into school and the fall 2010 high school cross country season has been unnoticed or been without controversy would simply not be accurate. Although it should be noted that TnfNorth was the first to bring his name to the fore, over 6 weeks ago. The Grade 11 athlete from Glebe Secondary School in Ottawa, a refugee from Rwanda who arrived during the World Junior Championships and won the Queen's Invitational in 29:20 beating 3:42 1500 metre man Matt Hulse, has gone from unknown to favorite in the space of a few weeks. It is hard to know how the newcomer will handle the reported cold weather but if he does stumble Pre-Ofsaa Champion Xavier King of Pickering and pre-season favorite Rob Denault of Aurora could be in a position to capitalize. After the Regional Meets, Vincent Massey appears to be the favorite to win both the senior boys and senior girls team championship, but will have a strong Theriault team from Timmins on the boys race and strong Thousand Islands and London Central teams on the girls side. After not being ranked in the top five to start the year, Elizabeth Whelan of Branksome Hall has become the favorite but will be challenged by Jaclyn White of Mother Theresa and Michelle Molodynia of AN Myer.
