Bernardo Sada is No Stranger to Success

"This year I started training more which really helped me achieve my personal best of 1:53.40 in the 800m. Another fond memory of mind includes winning the gold with my 4x400m relay team and setting a new meet record at this year's BC High School Championships."

The Walnut Grove Junior Boys squad ran a time of 3:31.77 over the four laps, more than two seconds faster than the second place team. As a matter of fact, Sada is no stranger to being a record holder.

"A highlight of mine from the 2023 season was breaking all of my school's records in the junior section and running an 8:52 in the 3000m at the Eastern Valley Zone Championships after only ever running one 3000m before."

Sada credits a lot of his success and love for the sport to his training group at Ocean Athletics, where he trains under Ted St Croix.

"I absolutely love my training group. I'm so thankful I have them to train with because I wouldn't know what to do without them. Ever since I joined I have learned so much about the sport and I'm always excited to go to practice, mostly because of how great everyone at Oceans is. They're all so positive and hard working and they help me become a better runner.  My coach, Ted, is always there for me and everyone else."

As for the 2023 XC season, the BC High School Championships are just around the corner and Sada is looking forward to the competition, especially being able to run with the older athletes now that he is in the senior division. With that he left up with some parting words.

"Keep going in the sport no matter what. There will be ups and downs, but it will get better with patience and training."
