For middle distance types looking for another good spring racing option-- and, for you speedsters, a chance to win some $ -- consider the P-K/Queen's Mile Challenge on June 6th (the Wednesday before OFSAA-- handy, if you plan to be in Brockville to watch anyway). As incentive, and to encourage someone to attempt to be the first person to run a sub-4 min mile in Kingston, we are offering a $500 bonus for that feat (or it's Mercier equivalent on the women's side, 4:36). We are also offering overnight accommodation and meals for up to 12 athletes. FYI, the meet will take place on our beautiful new track (opened just last month). And note: We are also offering an 800 and a 3k. We hope to put together high performance heats in each of these events too; and, if we don't use all of our funding for accommodations on the milers, we will offer it to qualified 800 and 3k runners. And high school athletes: If you didn't make OFSAA, but are planning to travel down to watch anyway, consider running our meet on the Wednesday before. We will provide heats for age class athletes of all speeds at all three distances where demand exists. Link to entry instructions and waiver is here: http://www.athleticsontario.ca/Content/News-Events/Calendar.asp?ItemID=127747 If you're interested in the fast section of the mile in particular, contact me directly at steve@physi-kultrunning.com

We're in final preparations for next Wednesday and welcome any and all to come and try out our new track on your way to OFSAA in Brockville. The men's mile field is shaping up, but there are still several spots open, including accommodations and meals for Wednesday evening. And, of course, we welcome athletes of all abilities in each of the three events. Details, including entry form and waiver, are available at the AO site. Entries on the day will be also accepted at the posted fee. And please note: -We will give hand timed splits @ 1500m in the men's mile. -The women will now run 1500m, with the bonus offered to a time of 4:15.5, as against a men's mile time of 4:00 or better. -There will be a paced women's only section of the 3000m aiming for the World Junior standard of 9:35. Inquiries reply to me at steve@physi-kultrunning.com

Thanks to the athletes and volunteers for a great little meet last night. Fields were small, but the racing was spirited! The milers made a serious attempt at 4:00, passing 809m in 2:02ish, but came apart a little on the third lap. Cleo Boyd came agonizingly close to her WJ standard (hit it on the nose, but will lose .24 in the conversion) She'll have to try again in London on Sunday. Here are the results (hand timed, due to a software glitch in the new Finishlynx system): P-K/Queen’s Mile Challenge and Distance All-Comers Meet Results.
