@UBCfreshh You're right Ayesu-Attah was an oversight. I forgot he was still around. But Neal, Keane and Williams could all potentially double if it wasn't for the presence of the other two. Now Williams probably has the better chance because the 3000 runs as a final the first day, so he can recover and run a great 1500, provided he doesn't have to work that hard in the 3000. But there's 6 guys that are all running under 9:00 minutes right now so it will probably be competitive and he'll have to work harder than he wants to leaving less for the 1500 final the next day. And because the 800 final is 3 hours after the 1500 final, whoever wins the 1500 will have to work too hard win the 800 as well. And that's the problem with a two day provincial final; it rewards the athlete that can run on bricks the best, not necessarily the fastest guy (and that's probably Neal). I thought there was talk of a three day final with 1500 heats or 4x4 heats on Thursday night.

@slowandsteady You're right there are quite a few kids capable of running 9 minutes or faster in the 3000m at BC high schools, but the race usually goes out that fast as none of the kids want to lead. If it goes like that all Jack would need to do is sit and kick, and conserve heaps of energy. The 1500m will be a great race to watch regardless.

The 3000m is going to be a very interesting event this year. Who will run in it and how fast it will be. I think there is potential for several guys to run under 8:50. These are the times I have seen so far this season indoor/outdoor: Jack Williams (Gr12) 8:55 Tim Delcourt (Gr 10) 8:57 Jake Bruchet (Gr12) 8:57 Then from last year: Deon Clifford (Gr11) 8:52 Evan Hall (Gr12) 8:59 Kyle Zosiak (Gr12) 9:01

@UBCfreshh Hey don't get too excited...it's April Neal's already run 1:52.35 this spring - 3 days before the SFU race. Jack Williams looks really good this year, but he has yet to run low 1:50s Sean Keane wasn't cracking 2 mins last year at this time and ran 1:52. He's already gone 1:53 this early in the year. Boys 800m could have up to 7 guys under 1:55 Devin Wiebe looking really good early in the year.

@gazoo Who cares? Larger student populations correlate to faster highschool times. Secondary students in BC: under 300 000 Secondary students in On: over 700 000 In last year's California state final there were 7 guys who ran under 8:50 for 3200. Secondary students in California: 1 600 000 Does this invalidate results from On? Of course not. Athletes compete in a context. You've demonstrated yet again why people from Ontario have a reputation for being overbearing and egocentric.

@UBCfreshh Your telling me that Umpa Lumpa is the cream of the crop!? I'm thinking your UBC bias might have a little something to do with this pred lol... I predict Stuart Ellenwood to win the Mens 800, with Jack a distant 4th in between Keffri and Sean. As for the 1500 I think Deon Clifford will be a very strong competitor... The 3k as already pointed out is quite weak, so whoever wins the title good on them, but it won't be a race in comparison to the 800 and 1500...

@SebCoe84 quite a goofy bit of writing there guy, but then again when you go by last years bc's you look like the brightest bulb If you knew anything of running you would know Deon Clifford isn't training at all. As for Stuart Ellenwood you must be shitting me the kid is scared of his own shadow and isn't even in the same league as Jack, Sean or Keffri. This umpa loompa you speak of just beat Sean by 3 seconds, and when you run your last 200 in 26.x not many kids will beat you. Suck my nuts

@UBCfreshh First of all nice one speedgoggles! Secondly pb's speak for themselves... Let me break it down for your obviously simple mind. Jack Williams 200m- 23.13 400m- 50.80 800m- 1:55 1500m- 3:59.93 (these times are the reason he's your teammate) Stuart Ellenwood 200m- 22.70 400m- 49.56 (run sub 50 multiple times) 800m- 1:55 (ran this from the front) (Stuart has a faster kick than Jack (this isn't to be debated it is a fact(refer to the above times) Keffri Neal 400m- 50.38 800m- 1:50.92 Mile-4:14.92 (these times are the reason Jack isn't Keffri's teammate) Sean Keane 400m- 50.32 800m- 1:51.91 1500m- 3:57.22 (these times are why Sean and Keffri are teammates) I hope you can wrap your brain around these simple facts. Also embrace your future teammate as he needs help improving his times before he's mentioned on this board... As speedgoggles says... SebCoe Out!

@SebCoe84 So much research, this magnitude should warrant much better points. It was April and Jack ran 359. Keane wasn't close. They both have ran quick in the 800m but Keffri does not show up every race. IF you don't know Jack's father was an multiple Olympian running 27.50 in the 10km and his mother is actually a Olympic medallist, and runs a much faster 1500m than you ever will. Let me also refresh your clearly very bad memory with two things. He has only been training for nearly a full year now and ran 23.1 off just raw speed. And second he beat Stuart at BC club's in the '800' last summer. If he need to Jack could run 22.4-22.6 and could easily run 48. low This isn't a fact of whether he is coming to UBC or not. This is a fact that he has the genes and is much more talent that either. Keane runns like the ugliest kid on the planet Keffri neal is like Todd Bertuzzi - shows up when he decides and your stu ellenwood prances harder than clay aiken

@UBCfreshh h How long have you been sucking the JW popsickle you arrogant SOB?I hope that you are not offended by my "tone"(not that Dr Heartons gives a shit)but you don't mind offending Sean,Keffri ,Stuart and just about every other hard working athlete in B.C. First the 800:if you look at the list of the top 800m runners in North America(and certainly Canada)is JW's name anywhere on it?Two of the best live right here in Surrey(and you know who I am talking about)and they have run a bunch of 1:52s-1:54s and a 1:50.92 and 1:51.94 as PBs,and until your guy does that, you need to STFU!!!!!Now the 1500:JW runs a 3:59 once and you get a boner.Sean ran 3:57 last year!Keffri will be right there, and let's not forgot some others,to do so would be both arrogant and foolish. Now the 3000:you just gave the race to JW.Not only will Dion and Christian have something to say about that, but so will some others. As far as comparing Keffri to Bertuzzi,I would compare his record of consistency to JW's anyday.Just post JW's record and we will get Keffri's up.Oh ,by the way,has JW ever run a 4:14 mile or 4:21?Sean and Keffri have.I like JW.I think he is a great talent. It's you I have the problem with:disrespect of these young kids.I'll see you at the races.Wear a pink tshirt and I'll bring a big popsicle!!!!!!!!Dr.Heartons
