Hill, Cameron Add Two More Medals For FL Alums On Day Two Of Pan Am Juniors

Former Lake Highland Prep sprinter and rising Southern Cal sophomore Deanna Hill made history Saturday night at the Pan Am Junior Championships in Edmonton, Canada. Hill claimed gold in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.18, it was the first championship for U.S. women in the 200m since 2009 and the only the 9th time in meet history! The Trojan was the US Juniors champion at the same distance and joins teammate Dior Hall (pictured above) as a fellow gold medalist. Fellow Florida alum and teammate Kendall Ellis was third Friday in the 400m dash.

400m gold medalist Jamal Walton of South Florida was hoping to double with a win in the 200m dash. However, Walton did not show up to the prelim after tweaking his hamstring the day before. Unfortunate news, but we wish him the best of health, for a future that is very, very bright.

Adding to the medal count of Florida alumni was University of Florida rising sophomore Lloydricia Cameron. Cameron, who was an integral part of Miami Northwestern's powerhouse program during her time, was second in the discus with a personal best throw of 51.98m or 170'06." As a freshman for the Gators, Cameron was fifth at the SEC Championships and runner-up at US Juniors.
