Anthony Schwartz Goes 10.14, No. 5 All-Time At 100 Meters

Anthony Schwartz moved closer toward his goal of breaking 10 seconds at 100 meters on Wednesday at the Region 2A-4 Championships at Pine Crest High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The American Heritage (FL) senior, the nation's top sprinter in both the 100m and 200m, lowered his career-best wind-legal time to 10.14 (+2.0) seconds, tying the sixth-fastest mark of all time with Noah Lyles (2015) and earning his third straight Class 2A regional title in the Sunshine State.

Schwartz and Lyles are now tied as the fifth-fastest prep athletes at 100m of all time.

It also marked his fourth such 100m time under 10.18 this season, including one outing, 10.13 seconds, that just crossed the line of wind-allowance (+2.1) in March.

Schwartz also capped off the regional championships by anchoring the American Heritage boys squad to a win in the 4x100 in 40.81 seconds.

Schwartz is also looking for a bit of redemption after not claiming a state title in 2017. A minor injury in the state title 100m at IMG Academy a year ago prevented the star sprinter from nabbing wins in both the 100m and 200m races.

He finished second at the adidas Boost Boston Games 100m a year ago and followed win a national title at the distance at New Balance Nationals Outdoor.
