The Scoop: Powerhouse Relay Programs Revving Up and Don't Sleep On This Junior

5. Indiana Is The High Flying State

Indiana is fast becoming a state for high flyers.

Noblesville High junior Shelby Tyler became the latest to clear 5 feet, 11 inches on Saturday at the Western Indiana Classic No. 2 meet, joining a list that includes fast-rising talent Katie Isenbarger of Zionsville Community.

Isenbarger, if you remember, broke out last indoor season with a mark of 5-11 at the Depaux HSR Qualifier, then followed with a clearance of 6-feet the ensuing outdoor season.

She has yet to jump this winter.

Now Tyler is following in almost identical steps, improving two inches from her previous height indoors. She finished second last year at the Hoosier State Relays, though over the outdoor season only heighted 5-7 at regions to take second and went fourth at New Balance Nationals Outdoor in 5-8.75.

Could this be Tyler's year? With nearly two months until Indiana's state championships, she has plenty of time to improve on technique.
