Teahna Daniels ended her high school career with another medal. The First Academy alumni and University of Texas signee picked up a bronze in the 100m dash on the opening day of the Pan Am Junior Championships, She ended the meet Sunday as the lead off leg on the gold medal 4x100m relay and had this to say after the race.
"I thought we all did very well and our handoffs were perfect. We all had a good chemistry with each other so getting the stick around smoothly was easy. I'm so blessed that I could come to Canada and compete and medal in the Pan Am Jr. Games in both of my events. I'm just ready and excited to start my college life."
Speaking of medals, one of the few double gold medalists was former Lake Highland Prep sprinter and rising Southern Cal sophomore Deanna Hill. Hill claimed gold in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.18 on Saturday and anchored Team USA to a time of 43.79, marking the 15th win in this event for the red, white, and blue in Pan Am Juniors history.
USC Trojans were all over the medal stand in Toronto and Kendall Ellis was one of those athletes. The former St. Thomas Aquinas star was third in the 400m and ran the third leg on Sunday's 4x400m relay. Ellis split 52.8 and handed the stick off to Raevyn Rogers with the lead. Rogers then brought it home for Team USA in a gold medal and world junior leading time of 3:31.49.
