The University of Calgary Dinos barely held off Toronto in the women's meet, while the University of Guelph Gryphons overtook Windsor to capture the men's national title at the CIS Indoor Championships in Edmonton, Alberta.

The Calgary DInos were helped in part on the final day by a win from Rachel Machin in the high jump and a second place from their 4x400m relay team, which was enough to hold on a hard charging Toronto women's team. The Guelph Gryphons were helped by wins from Tim Hendry in the shot put and Anthony Romaniw in the 600m.

For their efforts, Doug Lamont of Calgary and Dave Scott-Thomas of Guelph were awarded the women's and men's coach of the year awards.
